For Better or for Worse: A Poem by E.T. Milligan

from the poetry book ‘Images of Life’

For Better or For Worse is a poem by the awarded poet E.T. Milligan, published author and inspirational speaker.

I wrote this poem in dedication to the many people that have suffered physical and psychological abuse and their plight for justice.

For Better or for Worse

you vowed to honor me

but battered me,

which shattered me

but never let me be.

you promised to trust me

but accused me

then abused me,

but never fled from me

you swore you’d admire me,

but opposed me,

then disposed me

but never set me free

you took my life…

but I’m our wife.
